The newly appointed Board of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has held its inaugural induction retreat in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Chaired by Chief Idris Olorunnimbe, the retreat served as a platform for the Board to examine Management’s strategic priorities and reinforce the Commission’s pivotal function in advancing Nigeria’s digital economy.
The event featured insights from a roster of eminent facilitators. Mrs. Yetunde Akinloye conducted a detailed review of the Nigerian Communications Act (2003), while Paul Usoro, SAN, offered perspectives on effective board governance and oversight within the telecom regulatory sector.
Professor Hyacinth Nwana provided an international outlook on regulatory roles and future trends, and Prof. Fabian Ajogwu, OFR, SAN, grounded the Board in essential corporate governance principles.
The sessions were noted for their rigor and frankness, centering on robust governance, regulatory credibility, and a heightened emphasis on delivering results for consumers, the industry, and the nation’s digital economy—core elements of the Commission’s strategic agenda.
