Strong indications have emerged showing the readiness of the Nigerian Breweries Plc to reopen production lines of the hitherto dormant brewery plant at Awo Omanma community of Imo state.
Officials of the company said during the handing over of a 2-ton-per-day cassava processing plant, that the observed security stability in the state and the need to create jobs for youths are key considerations for the planned resumption of production.
In his comments, the Managing Director and CEO, Mr. Thibaut Boidin explained that the facility is designed to foster economic growth by generating direct and indirect jobs for youth and locals, with an estimated annual revenue of ₦500 million. He positioned Awo-Omamma as an emerging hub for cassava processing through this project.
Senior executives, including Supply Chain Director Mr. Federico Agressi and Corporate Affairs Director Mr. Uzo Odenigbo, attended the event.
An official of the brewery averred that sustained improvements in enabling environments could lead to capital investments for upgrading the brewery, resuming production of local brands, and restoring employment in the area.
