…Awards All Internal Roads in New Owerri, Silent on Orlu Urban
Whereas the worst urban-rural feeder road in Orlu LGA today, remains the less than 20kms Ezerioha Road which starts from Nkwito Junction in Amaifeke connecting Okwuabala-Ihioma, Ogberuru, Obibi and Ihiteowerri communities has not received any form of facelift from the current Governor Hope Uzodinma’s administration both in his first term and now Secord term, businesses on the stretch and the adjoining communities have continued to cry for the reconstruction.
Business Hilights learnt that during a recent courtesy visit to the Federal House of Representatives member representing Orlu/Orsu/Oru East Federal Constituency, Hon. Canice Nwachukwu (Omeogo) by stakeholders of Ihiteowerri Ward, they asked for the reconstruction of the road and begged the lawmaker to take up Ezerioha road facelift with the State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma which he obliged.
The Ihiteowerri Ward Stakeholders while calling on the lawmaker to further remind the governor on the socioeconomic importance of doing the Ezerioha road, also cried for the reconstruction of Isi-Ihiteowerri/Uzubi Orashi Bridge which had collapsed more than 20 years ago, thus frustrating businesses and inter-local government relationship between Orlu and Ideato North communities in the axis.
Only recently, the governor has awarded new sets of roads across the state without including the failed Ezerioha Road which remains a key rural-Urban feeder road in the local government.
Some of the newly awarded road in the state include Anara (Isiala Mbano)–Nwangele–Nkwerre–Orlu Road to stop at Eziachi Orlu also awarded; Control Flyover–Ama Oka Road Also awarded with streetlights
Also, Governor Hope Uzodimma has approved and awarded the comprehensive construction of all internal roads in New Owerri. The project marks a new chapter in the administration’s commitment to urban renewal, ease of movement, and economic expansion within the state capital.
The Governor also awarded the long-anticipated Anara (Isiala Mbano)–Nwangele–Nkwerre–Orlu Road, which will terminate at Eziachi in Orlu, bringing relief to commuters and residents who have endured years of hardship on the route.
In addition, the Control Flyover–Onitsha-Owerri Road leading to the Anambra boundary at Ama Oka has been approved for full rehabilitation and installation of modern streetlights, ensuring safety and aesthetics along one of the state’s busiest entryways.
Governor Uzodimma reaffirmed that the projects are part of his government’s renewed push to connect every part of Imo with durable road networks, stimulate business, and restore the state’s pride as the true heart of the South East.
