Diginitries at the commissioning of Kano Digital Park recently
Following the recent completion of renovation works and replacement of looted facilities at the multi-billion naira Digital Industrial Park in Kano State, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has officially commissioned the complex for public use.
The event, held on Tuesday, July 2, 2025, had in attendance top government officials including the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida; the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani; Kano State Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam; Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande; and the Jarman Kano, Ambassador Ahmed Umar.
The project is part of NCC’s efforts to boost digital infrastructure, innovation, and job creation across Nigeria.
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Tijani described the Digital Industrial Park as a critical part of the government’s efforts to build inclusive innovation hubs that provide young Nigerians and startups with access to modern infrastructure, mentorship, and business support services.
“Innovation ecosystems like this Park create the environment where ideas become viable products and services. Our vision is to make Nigeria a net exporter of technology solutions, and this is one of the platforms that will make that happen,” Tijani said.
The facility is expected to foster partnerships between tech entrepreneurs, researchers, and investors, helping to transform early-stage ideas into market-ready digital solutions. It will also serve as a hub for research and development activities that advance the growth of Nigeria’s ICT sector.
Representing the Kano State government, Deputy Governor Aminu Gwarzo pledged the state’s full support, describing the initiative as timely in unlocking opportunities for the region’s vibrant youth population.
In his remarks, Youth Development Minister Ayodele Olawande said the Park would provide a springboard for young Nigerians to turn their creativity into commercially viable innovations.
“Nigeria’s greatest resource is its people, particularly our youth. This Park will help channel their energy and talent towards building solutions that can impact our economy and society positively,” Olawande added.
The Kano DIP is part of the NCC’s wider plan to roll out Digital Industrial Parks in key regions of the country, creating technology clusters that will drive job creation, industrial growth, and national competitiveness in the global digital economy.
As Nigeria pushes forward with its digital transformation agenda, the commissioning of the Kano Digital Industrial Park marks a significant step in empowering local talents and creating new pathways for economic prosperity in the North and beyond.
