Former President of Auto Spare Parts & Machinery Dealers Association (ASPMDA), Lagos International trade Fair complex, and current Chairman of Board of Trustees (BoT) of the association, Chief Dr. Daniel Offorkansi was on Monday, April 14, 2025 taken by surprise by his lovers, well-wishers and the current administration lead by Hon. Ngozi Emechebe, who put up a well oraginsed birthday show without him knowing about it in his office.
The elated chief celebrant only came to understand what was going on when ASPMDA dignitaries and prominent personalities in the complex started entering his office in the afternoon.
The organisers, led by Hon. Chief Mrs. Oluchi Akunne (leader of Ajia ASPMDA Women Empowerment Foundation–AAWEF), who doubles as the chief Matron of ASPMDA Hospital started landing with food items, assorted drinks and decorations of the office, thus putting the chief celebrant on his toes of surprises. This was followed by massive turnout of his admirers’ in jubilation of his new age.
In his opening remarks, Akusinachi Nnobi, High Chief Nonso Okafor set the ball rolling by introducing well-wishers before the chief celebrant immediately after Ajia Foundation chairlady, Chief Mrs. Akunne came in with her group and broke the news of former President’s birthday.
According to the order of programme, first to speak was also, a former President, Sir Sunny Igboanuzue, who prayed to God to give him more healthy life and intelligence to continue his good work in the progress of ASPMDA.
He further described the chief celebrant as a worthy leader, who has put ASPMDA in the line of steady progress and unity.
Also speaking after Sir Igboanuzue was the incumbent President, Hon. Emechebe, who eulogized Offorkansi as a leader of men and human resources in ASPMDA. He described him as a strong pillar in the growth of ASPMDA and trusted fellow in the affairs of ASPMDA and Lagos International trade Fair complex in general.
He prayed to God to give the chief celebrant more good live and knowledge to continue to serve ASPMDA well.
Then comes the chief celebrant; Chief Dr. Offorkansi to speak. While taking over the microphone,. Songs of praises to God for his live and general good leadership in ASPMDA rented the atmosphere.
While everyone danced to their happiness and satisfactory, he controlled the glowing unprecedented excitements and thanked the organizers for putting up a surprises which was planning his birthday celebration without his knowledge.
He said “nobody ever hinted to me that a birthday is being put together for me. I never know. If I had known, I would have prepared well. But am very happy that the event was massive and well attended by men and women of goodwill in ASPMDA”.
The birthday cake was cut with high excitement which was followed by closing p[rayers by former President Sir Igbanuzue before merriment took over the venue.
While the merriment was ongoing, several groups, personalities and business associations came in with their gift items. As many were coming in with gift items, merriments were going on till late in the evening when the market closed.
Speaking to Business Hilights in an interview at the event, High Chief Nonso Okafor described Chief Offorkansi as a massive blessing to ASPMDA and prayed to God to continue to bless him with good health. All ASPMDA Exco members were present at the surprise birthday package for the BoT chairman, Chief Dr. DC Offorkansi, (Ozo Ebube Dike Ndigbo).
