Leading public relations strategists and top media and communications chief at the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Omoniyi Ibietan, has opened up the build up to the African Public Relations Association (APRA) 36th Annual Conference taking place from the 9th-13th of June in Mombasa, Republic of Kenya.
In his latest Facebook post sighted by Business Hilights, an excited Ibietan averred that “This assembly of African public relations professionals and practitioners, policymakers, scholars, teachers, enthusiasts, and their global partners, will also feature the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the formation of APRA.
“Established by 10 African countries – including Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Egypt and the then colonial Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) in June 1975 – on the sidelines of the Council Meeting and General Assembly of the International Public Relations Association during its 20th anniversary in Nairobi, APRA is focused on facilitating the unity of African stakeholders in public relations and their allies through excellent, informed interaction and exchanges; and the promotion of excellence in strategic communication management, ethical practices and advancement of public trust to enhance Africa’s reputational uptakes.
“As we celebrate half a century of existence, we are rallying a rare assemblage of policymakers at the African Union, Ministers and Advisers across the continent, C-Suite executives, and global stakeholders in the communication sphere and related fields to reflect on how to improve the fortunes of Africa through safe and responsible digital communication,” Dr. Ibietan concluded.
