Nigeria has succeeded in her bid to host the World Public Relations Forum in 2026. Prof. Justin Green, President of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management (GA), an assembly of over 360,000 institutional and corporate members in 126 countries, has reached out to Dr. Ike Neliaku, President and Chairman of Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), to notify us of our successful bid.
In a terse Facebook post by Dr. Omoniyi Ibietan, the Secretary General of APRA and seen by Business Hilights, he wrote as follows;
“This process, which started in Indonesia at the 2024 WPRF, is a proof that success is possible for those “who fight their way up with courage and shrewdness” pivoted on collaboration, linkages, networking and forging alliances. We started working on the bid document before we left Bali as we lined up behind our leader, Ike Neliaku, and got to the brass tacks upon arrival in Nigeria.
Having won this, we are closing the gap to bring APRA 2026 to Nigeria, too. I believe our colleagues in the continental body will see the rationale in organising the continental forum about the same time with the global one so we can optimise resources.
Honestly, I can wait because that same year, Nigeria will inaugurate the first public relations university in the world, Public Relations and Leadership University. Our Day Shall Come!
