As part of strategic build up to the seamless implementation, a team from the Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS), led by the Executive Chairman, Mr. Justice R. Okoye has paid a courtesy visit to the Imo State Judiciary on Thursday, 27th February 2025.
The visit was aimed at sensitising the Judiciary on the benefits of the newly deployed Revenue Collection and Management System (RMS).
In his remark, Mr. Okoye thanked the Chief Registrar, His Worship, Dame Naomi Achunulor for the warm welcome.
He informed her that the RMS would provide an avenue for transparency and ease of assessments/payments.
The Chairman requested for rates on revenue collected under the Judiciary for easy integration to the system.
He added that training sessions will be held for Accountants, Registrars, Magistrates and Judges on the effective use of the RMS.
The Chief Registrar welcomed the IIRS team and added that all revenue collections in the Judiciary are handled by the Accounts Department headed by the Chief Accountant. She, however, said paper processes are still needed for audit purposes, to which the IIRS Chairman affirmed that both paper and automated systems can work side by side.
The Chief Accountant added that certain parameters such as internet connection and internet enabled phones need to be considered in the deployment of the RMS.
He raised concerns on security of the system and was assured that security measures are in place to ensure the system is safe from potential risks.
The Chief accountant added that the rates for collection would be forwarded to the IIRS as soon as possible.
The Registrar thanked the Chairman for the update and looked forward to the training for revenue optimisation.
