Speedy work on the Orlu-Mgbee – Umuchima – Akokwa – Uga Road Project has continued to excite motorists and local communities on the stretch
The project, aimed at addressing long-standing infrastructure challenges in Ideato Nation, has gained momentum with a focus on extensive erosion control measures.
Key efforts include the construction of drainage channels, earthworks to stabilize the road surface, and backfilling to prevent further erosion. These measures are critical to ensuring the durability and safety of the road, particularly in areas prone to severe gully erosion.
Engineering teams are actively working on the gully-affected sections, laying geotextile materials and backfilling with suitable materials to reinforce the foundation. Additionally, dams are being checked and modified to slow water flow and mitigate erosion risks. Progress has been notable, with up to 39% completion achieved in the gully sections.
Meanwhile, Section 2 of the project, spanning from Obohia Junction to Ntueke/Uruala, is seeing rapid advancements in earthworks, drainage systems, and the relocation of electric poles, ensuring seamless progress.
