Tinubu with Rivers leaders to press for resumed oil exploration in Ogoni land
More details have emerged on why President Ahmed Bola Tinubu recently met with stakeholders of Rivers State and mainly Ogoni leaders of thought.
The meeting was called out of desperation to raise Nigeria’s oil production as about 150,000bpd can be produced from Ogoni if exploration is allowed to resume once more. Recall that drilling in Ogoni was halted due to the need to clean up the spilled ground before continuing.
But analysts say with President Tinubu meeting Rivers State leaders especially from Ogoni, it’s safe to say drilling for oil will commence soon. Also in the meeting were Gov Fubara and FCT minister, N. Wike.
Oil wells were shut off following the communal crisis in the area in the early 1990s.
The presidency is calling and wishing that peace and development are entrenched in the area so that oil exploration will begin.
