Senator John Azuta-Mbata, President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide
By GOC Nwadike
On Friday, January, 10th, 2025, The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide; The Apex Socio-Cultural Organization Of Ndigbo Globally Held Its General Elections To Decide Its New Leadership.
The Position Of The President-General Of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide Has Remained Rotatory Among Its Affiliate Igbo Member States. The Aspiring Member Must Be Igbo, And Must Come From One Of The Igbo Speaking States Of Nigeria.
The Last State That Produced The President-General Of The Organization Was Imo State, Which Had The Unfortunate Experiences Of Losing Two Of Its Sons In The Persons Of Prof. George Obiozor And Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, To Death Before The January 10th, 2025 Expiration Of Imo’s Term. However, Nze Ozichukwu Chukwu, Still From Imo State, Was Appointed To Complete Imo’s Tenure Which He Served Out In Less Than Two Weeks, Conducted The Election Of January 10th, And Handed Over.
Rivers State Which Had Never Missed Out Of Membership Of The Organization Seriously Contested For The Office Of Thee PG, Since The Slot Was Zoned To Them After Imo, Leading To The Emergence On The 10th Of January, 2025, Of A New PG With All The Qualifications Of Igboness In The Person Of A Former Rivers East Senator, Sen. John Mbata.
The Election Of Sen. Mbata; An Ikwerre Man Of Rivers State; A Kinsman Of The Former Governor Of Rivers State And Current FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Nwike, And Other Former Governors Of Rivers State, Such As Dr. Peter Odili, Chief Celestine Omehia And Barr. Rotimi Amarachi, (All Igbos), Has Put To Rest The Unnecessary And Unwarranted Debates About The Ethnicity Of The Ikwerre People Of Rivers State. They Are Igbo.
No Doubt, History Informed Us Of How This Debate Even Started At The First Instance. While I Do Not Wish To Dabble Into That Chapter For Now, Suffice To Encourage The New Generation Of Ikwerres That The War Is Over. The Fulanis Are Withdrawn. “You Can Fool Some People For Some Time, But You Cannot Fool All The People All The Time”.
The Reasons; The Lies That Led To An “Umuola” Community Changing Its Name To “Rumuola” Or “Umuokoro” To “Rumuokoro”, Or “Obigbo” To “Oyigbo”, Had Been Deflated. That Fear Is Gone, And Gone Forever.
I Therefore Congratulate Ndigbo, Especially The Five South-Eastern States Governors Led By The Imo Governor, Distinguished Sen. Hope Uzodinma, For Facilitating, Conceding And Supporting The Return To The Family, Of Our Brothers Of The Ikwerre Clan Of Igbo Tribe Through This Election. Our Stance Remains In The _Onye Aghala Nwanne Ya_, No Matter The Reasons. Igbo Is One.
I Hope With This Debate Permanently Settled, Ndigbo, Under The Leadership Of The New PG Of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Would Further Go Miles In Search, Reunification And Full Home Coming Of Our Other Brothers In Benue, Edo, Cross River, Akwa-Ibom, Etc, Wickedly And Deliberately Cut Off From Their Kinsmen In The South-East By The Nigerian Fulani Ruling Brains In The Past. It’s Time They Know That _Óbara Shiri Ike. Ndigbo Wú Otu.
Congratulations To The Ikwerres Who Have Boldly Asserted Their Ethnicity And Tribe As Ndigbo.
A Naghí A Nó E Nweghí Aha, Bikonu. No Man Stays Without A Name. Welcome Home Brothers!
