The history, growth and rise and rise of today’s Eko Hotel & Suites from what it was in faraway 1977 when ti was built remain a great testament of Business management By Objectives and sustainable development of investments.
The hotel was established in 1977 as Eko Holiday Inn on Plot 1415 Adetokunbo Ademola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, it is part of the Chagoury Group of companies.
The major idea behind the establishment of the hotel in 1977 is to backup and house international guests at the FESTAC ’77.
Today, Eko hotel building comprises 825 rooms and suites. The space now runs from the beginning of the Street to the adjoining Roundabout.
Eko hotel was designed by architect Oluwole Olumuyiwa. He was the first Nigerian graduate of Architecture to return to Nigeria from abroad in 1958 and set up a practice; Oluwole Olumuyiwa and Associates in Lagos, Nigeria, in 1960. He was the first President of Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON). Oluwole was co-director of Africa’s first architectural review “The West African Builder and Architect”. He was Nigeria’s delegate to the CAA conference in 1964 and subsequently became President of the Association
