In order to achieve about 50 percent validation and awareness in Domain Name System Security (DNSSEC) extension by the first quarter of 2025, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) in conjunction with Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICAAN) have called on Nigerians and the general public to get involved through validation awareness webinar platform.
The virtual event EXTRAORDINAIRE.COM, learnt from NCC’s post on its social media handles will hold from today (Thursday) 12, December, 2024 between 11 am to 12.30 noon.
The awareness drive and campaign is to empower and stimulate domain users on risks to avoid towards negative links meant primarily to forestall any form of attack on the ever increasing users of the web.
At the event, the Head, New Media and Information Security, Mr. Babagana Digima, Technical Engagment Manager, Yazid Akanho, and Head, Internet Governance, Ibiso Kingsley George, will be on ground for an envisaged robust engagement on the imperatives of the validation and enlightenment convergence and public discuss.
Recall that DNSSEC is a basic feature of the Domain Name System that triggers and authenticates responses to domain outlooks and does not however provide privacy protection for the looks up but can deter attackers from manipulating responses to requests.
