I took them to abandoned Alakija-Trade Fair Link-Road from FESTAC—ASPMDA Boss
The Legal Consultant to the ED/CEO of Lagos International Trade Fair Complex, Mr. Anma Chris Uche Esq., yesterday evening confirmed to Business Hilights that “Truly, surveyors sent by the House of Representatives Committee on Commerce Chairman, Hon. Ahmed Munir were at the complex earlier today to take the measurements of the 6km ring-road ahead of the planned reconstruction expected to be funded from the upcoming 2025 national budget.”
Explaining more to our Correspondent in a telephone interview, he revealed that “On arrival from Abuja this morning, they were received at the management office from where I was directed to conduct them round the complex service ring-road which I did before they were accompanied by ASPMDA President, Hon. Ngozi Emechebe, who took them to the abandoned complex link-road from Alakija Junction by 2nd Avenue, FESTAC Town”.
Chris Uche explained that the ED/CEO of the complex, Barr. Dr. Vera Ndanusa was very happy with the surveying team, saying the move is a clear indication that by next year, there will be budgetary allocation for the reconstruction of the 6km ring-road for the first time since the development of the complex in 1977.
Earlier in another interview, ASPMDA President confirmed to our correspondent that he took the surveyors to Alakija from where the complex abandoned link-road through the 2nd Avenue down to Abule Ado through St. Joseph’s Cath. Church and they took the measurements. Majority of business owners at the complex expressed happiness on the move to deliver the Alakija-Trade Fair complex link-road, saying the new road will amongst others, ease off peak-hour traffic on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway as many traffic will divert to the link-road on delivery.
Recall that while addressing Trade Fair stakeholders during his Committee’s oversight function tour of the complex inside ASPMDA President’s Office, Hon. Munir assured that “By next week (this week), I will send a team of surveyors to come and take road measurements from where we can get a clear estimates of the cost of reconstructing the road so that we can integrate it into the 2025 national budget at the National Assembly.
Having taken both the measurements of the Trade Fair complex’s 6km ring-road and the less than 1km Alakija-Trade Fair link-road, observers say there is a clear hope that the face of the complex and ease of doing business may change for good from next year when the reconstruction of both strategic roads are delivered after all.
