AIG Adegoke being decorated by IGP and wife in Abuja
Mr. Adegoke Mustapha Fayoade, former Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, has officially assumed the rank of Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) of Police following his decoration with the new rank yesterday in Abuja. His promotion, alongside seven other senior officers, was approved by the Police Service Commission and marked by a special decoration ceremony held at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja, on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.
AIG Adegoke had during his courtesy visit to the ED/CEO of Lagos International Trade Fair complex, Barr Dr. Vera Ndanusa, on Friday last week, revealed that he is to be decorated this week to assume the position of Police Zone 2 Command boss in Lagos to oversee Lagos and Ogun States.
In her address, Ndanusa congratulated the Police chief, who further assured stronger surveillance of his security radar on the complex as the head of Police in Lagos and Ogun.
During his decoration in Abuja yesterday, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Egbetokun Olukayode Adeolu, personally oversaw the decoration of the newly promoted AIGs, recognizing their dedication and commitment to the force. Among those celebrated was AIG Fayoade, whose impressive career as Lagos State Commissioner of Police has earned him a reputation for leadership and integrity.
Joined by his wife, Mrs. Adekemi Fayoade, and key figures like Dr. Ayo Ogunsan of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) and retired DIG Leye Oyebade, AIG Fayoade stood proudly as he received his new rank insignia. The promotion is part of a broader elevation within the force, with 15 Deputy Commissioners also being promoted to Commissioners of Police (CP), and the newly decorated AIGs, including Fayoade, posted to critical zones across Nigeria.
The significance of the moment was not lost on IGP Egbetokun, who used the occasion to reiterate the importance of upholding the rule of law. He urged the newly promoted officers to remain steadfast in their responsibilities and serve as ambassadors of the Nigeria Police Force, stating, “Each of you has a duty to discharge your new roles within the expectations of the citizens and the framework of the law, as we work towards a safer country for all.”
