Newly promoted Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) and out-going Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Mr. Adegoke Mustapha Fayoade has assured business owners and the management of Lagos International Trade Fair complex of his full security radar coverage from his new position and office as the AIG in charge of Zone 2, comprising Lagos and Ogun State.
Speaking during a warm reception organized by the Executive Director and CEO of the complex, Barr Vera Ndanusa at the auditorium of the complex management board on Friday, September 6, 2024, the Police Chief expressed shocks on the level of private sector investments at the complex, saying whereas he will continue to oversee issues of security on the massive complex, he will prevail on the incoming Commissioner of Police, his successor to take the safety and security of the complex as a top priority.
Responding, Barr Ndanusa expressed happiness on the security of the Police chief especially now the complex is returning Trade Fair exhibition after 14 years of inactivity.
However, she was particular in mentioning some sets of trouble making stakeholders who have continued to make the complex management cumbersome by excessive violations of rules and regulations in the complex and called on the Police Chief to come to the rescue of the management.
Coincidentally, both the complex CEO and the outgoing CP exchanged tokens and gift items to mark the visit.
Earlier in their goodwill messages, leading stakeholders’ personalities took turn to deliver special greetings to both the ED and the Police.
First to speak was the chairman of Stakeholders and President of APT, Chief Eric Ilechukwu, who eulogized the leadership intelligence of the ED which has restored the confidence of business owners at the complex in less than one year of her appointment. He also thanked the outgoing CP, the Area E Police Chief and the Trade Fair Police DPO for their synergy in maintaining water-tight security in the complex.
Following him to speak was ASPMDA President, Hon. Ngozi Emechebe, who also hailed the management dexterity of the complex CEO and the entire Police chiefs in handling all security issues relating to the complex with utmost dispatch at all times.
Also speaking, the President of BBA, Chief Paul Odogwu thanked the outgoing CP and gave instances of how he has during his stay in office assisted in the amicable resolutions of several disputes amongst business owners in the complex and advised him to continue to give his support even from his new office as the AIG Zone 2, Lagos.
Rounding up stakeholders’ goodwill message session was former ASPMDA President and current BoT chairman of ASPMDA, Chief Dr. DC Oforkansi. He praised the crisis handling tactics of the outgoing CP, Adegoke and further gave the instance of how he even as the state CP, donated pure water sachets and water bottles to Nigerians protesting at Ojota instead of fighting them like others would do in the circumstance.
The colourful event was rounded off with several photo sessions with the visiting Police Commissioner Adegoke Mustapha Fayoade, ED/CEO, stakeholders and others.
