Not too long ago, we had EXCESS CRUDE ACCOUNT. We also had what was called SURE-P. Sadly, we now run a PALLIATIVE ECONOMY where grains are now trucked to supposedly FEDERATING STATES. DEJA VU! What readily springs to mind is how Washington airlifted food items to Moscow in 1990 and suddenly Mikhail Gorbachev had to throw in the towel on Christmas Day the following year. In quick succession, Boris Yeltsin declared a Republic of Russia, Lithuania and Estonia went their separate ways, Latvia was not spared. Ditto other FEDERATING REGIONS. In one fell swoop, the great USSR went under. The cold war ended. Uncle Sam picked the diadem. Back here in Naija, our leaders should please arise from their slumber and save the ship of state ashore. The present turbulence is really frightening.
