The leadership of the National Association of Maritime Transport Operators (NAMTOP) has felicitated with the newly appointed Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho and further advised him on how best to achieve good success in the course of his duties at the ports.
Recall that on Friday, July 12, 2024, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho as the new Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
In a congratulatory message sent to Dr. Dantsoho and made available to journalists in Lagos on Wednesday signed by Adeyinka Aroyewun, read as follows; “On behalf of the National Association of Maritime Transport Operators, I wish to congratulate you on your appointment as the new Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority.
“As an association of maritime operators, we understand the importance of a functional and efficient port system to the growth of the Nigerian economy. Therefore, we urge you to prioritize the rehabilitation and maintenance of port infrastructure to enhance the ease of doing business at the ports.
“We also implore you to address the issue of corruption and extortion at the ports, especially the fraudulent TTP call up system, which has been a major challenge for the industry. We suggest the implementation of a transparent and accountable system that will eliminate such vices.
Furthermore, we call on you to prioritize the development of a sustainable and competitive port system that will attract more investors and boost the country’s revenue generation.
“We want to refrain from congratulating you on your appointment as other groups are doing, rather advice you on your need to be diligent, sincere and impartial in the discharge of your duties. We believe that you should relate with all stakeholders in a better version against your predecessor’s.
“As an association, we look forward to working with you to achieve a more efficient and effective port system in Nigeria.
“Once again, congratulations on your appointment,” the congratulatory message concluded.
