More business leaders have continued to add their voices to the planned tripartite Commission being fronted by the Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite for the reduction of auto spare parts import in Nigeria by 40% come 2025.
Speaking on this issue in an interview, President of the Auto Spare Parts & Machinery Dealers Association (ASPMDA), Lagos International trade Fair complex, Hon. Ngozi Emechebe said one of the best ways the Minister will understand what we are doing here is to come and see things for herself.
He said ASPMDA is ever ready to work with the federal government in any project that will move the nation and economy forward.
Business Hilights recalls that during the recent ministerial briefing in Abuja, Dr. Uzoka-Anite revealed that her ministry is to set up a Commission to be made up of auto spare parts manufacturers, dealers and the government to work together in bringing down import of parts by 40% from 2025.
Barring his mind on the emerging policy, ASPMDA President assured the readiness of his association, but said its important for the Minister to pay ASPMDA a visit so that she can understand what we are doing here well.
According to him, “ASPMDA is not all about selling parts, some of us are already into manufacturing of parts and it will be more meaningful if the Minister will come and see things so that she can better understand what we can contribute to the new Commission.
“Its long many of us have been into spare parts production, but our challenges are enormous and that is why the minister needs to come and talk with us one-on one after seeing things for herself.
Hon. Emechebe added that ASPMDA is ever ready to welcome the minister for the growth of the motoring industry and the economy in general.
