For the fourth consecutive session, the Lagos bourse maintained the downward trend as the All-Share index closed 0.20% weaker to close at 47,156.56 points, the lowest level since 8 March 2022. Selloffs in index heavyweight, NESTLE (-2.79%) drove the market into the red. In addition, UBA (-1.94%), GTCO (-0.57%), WAPCO (-1.25%) and ZENITHBANK (-0.19%) sustained losses offsetting gains in FBNH (+0.84%) and ACCESS (+0.51%). Consequently, the year-to-date (YTD) return fell to 10.39%, while the market capitalization shed ₦51.40bn to close at ₦25.41trn.
Analysis of today’s market activities showed trade turnover settled higher relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions declining by 45.87%. A total of 303.48m shares valued at ₦3.90bn were exchanged in 4,616 deals. For the second consecutive session, ACCESS (+0.51%) led the volume chart with 44.15m units traded, while ZENITHBANK (-0.19%) led the value chart in deals worth ₦758.01m.
Market breadth closed negative at a 1.81-to-1 ratio with declining issues outnumbering advancing ones. JAPAULGOLD (-8.82%) led twenty-eight (28) others on the laggard’s table, while NPFMCRFBK (+9.52%) topped fifteen (15) others on the gainer’s log.
