Opening Monday, March 21, 2022, Nigerian equities sustained its losing streak for the third consecutive session as the benchmark index lost 0.07% to close at 47,251.93 points. Losses in UBA (-1.27%), GTCO (-0.19%) and WAPCO (-0.21%) were sufficient to erode gains in ZENITHBANK (+1.31%) and DANGSUGAR (+0.32%), bringing down the overall market. Consequently, the year-to-date (YTD) return fell to 10.62%, while the market capitalization shed ₦16.56bn to close at ₦25.47trn.
Analysis of today’s market activities showed trade turnover settled lower relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions declining by 30.17%. A total of 213.57m shares valued at ₦2.68bn were exchanged in 4,485 deals. ACCESS (+0.00%) led the volume chart with 27.19m units traded, while ZENITHBANK (+1.31%) led the value chart in deals worth ₦534.68m.
Market breadth closed negative at a 1.47-to-1 ratio with declining issues outnumbering advancing ones. RTBRISCOE (-10.00%) led twenty-one (21) others on the laggard’s table, while GUINNESS (+10.00%) topped fourteen (14) others on the gainer’s log.
