The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has disclosed that for now, “there are no available frequencies for assignment in Lagos and Abuja”.
In a statement signed by the Commission, the agency said it has released list of 65 successful companies whose licensees for FM Radio, Digital TV Services and University Campus Radio as approved by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The statement explained that “In summary, 43 companies have been granted FM Radio broadcasting licenses; 8 Campus FM Radio Broadcasting licenses; 1 Community FM Radio broadcasting licence; and 13 Free-View Digital Terrestrial Television licences.”
The new development is coming barely two weeks after the appointment of a new DG of NBC, Prof Armstrong Idachaba.
