The recent blatant rejection of Nigerian made cars for official purpose by members of the House of Representatives, who have unfortunately resolved to acquire Toyota Camry 2020 model fas their utility vehicles, has further made mess of the government’s campaign for buy Nigeria.
Apart from making every effort to drive local content both by an Act (Local content) and even Executive Order 05 as signed by President, the Federal Government had raised the duties paid on imported cars so high in order to discourage imports and encourage use of indigenous vehicles, yet the federal lawmakers rejected locally made vehicles.
With the approval to go for imported cars at a time government is scampering for fund or even going a-borrowing to fund the 2020 budget, the lawmakers resolved at an executive session held on February 5, 2020, to still import cars.
Already, all is set for the National Assembly to purchase about 400 exotic cars from Toyota and they are going for 2020 model which is yet to arrive Nigeria and it is expected to cost as high as N45m each when all costs are put together on each.

Many Nigerians had expected the federal lawmakers to pick inspiration from Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, who recently procured sets of Innoson cars for Head of Service and all Permanent Secretaries in the state.
