I have been ruminating on this for a while now and I decided to share it with you.
Our president, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) is a soldier-turned-politician. Once a general, always a general.
The president is from Katsina State. The State is supposed to be the most protected and most secured.
But it is not. Why?
Bandits, mostly of the president’s ethnic stock, have been killing people and destroying their homes. And I have started wondering why they operate unchallenged.
And I ask, is banditry an arm of this government? Who are these bandits and where did they come from?
How come that, despite the Katsina State governor, Rt. Hon. Aminu Masari, meeting with them in their forest and begging them to sheath their swords, they’ve continued to unleash terror on the president’s people and State?
Can somebody help me out?
During Umaru Yar’Adua’s era, the Niger Delta militants were kidnapping, blowing up oil pipelines. The late president decided to implement an amnesty programme for them. And he succeeded. They stopped.
Why is it so difficult to contain these bandits even in the president’s homestead? Yes, homestead.
Who are these bandits? Where did they come from? What do they want?
Why is it so difficult to either placate them or defeat them?
Are they now an arm of government that must do as it pleases it?
Why is it that they have no respect for their brother with whom they share same faith with?
Please help a worried citizen.
