One of the best advantages of drone technology was revealed in Lagos Wednesday by the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye.

Declaring open a one-day stakeholders’ consultative forum on regulation of drones deployment organised in Lagos by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the former lawmaker gave a graphic, but comic revelation made by the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje during a recent conference in Kano on security.

According to him, “The Governor told him that when the kidnappers picked up some people in the state, we deployed drone which not only identified their location, but also picked up the biometric data of the kidnappers which we analysed and located the country home of their leader and also ‘kidnapped’ his mother”.

“So while the kidnappers were preparing to hear the amount the government is going to pay as ransom, we told their leader that we used drone technology to trace their hideout and their identities and traced the home of their leader and also ‘kidnapped’ his aged mother who had been crying all day.

Continuing, Senator Durojaiye added that “Ganduje told me that few hours of this disclosure, the kidnap kingpin freed his victims for the sake of his held mother and since them there has never been any case of kidnap in Kano State till today because we now have the antidote.”
