NCC’s key target in 2020 is to deepen cyber optic cables across 774 LGAs— Durojaiye

Chairman, Board of Commissioners at the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye, has revealed development plan of action of the Commission for next year, saying “NCC in the coming year is to drive the cyber optic cables all over the 774 Local Government Areas in Nigeria, to increase Internet penetration and enhance quality of service.”

Addressing salient industry issues in Abuja, the former lawmaker said the 2020 plan of action is designed to among other things, drive increased contribution of the telecommunications sector to the growth of the nation’s economy come 2020.

Giving more insights on the 10 per cent contributions to the GDP this year, Senator Durojaiye submitted that the sector it played a critical role in the administration’s Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP).

According to him, “We need to plan ahead and key into the digital economy. The whole world is going through the 4th industrial revolution and digitisation, and we must be in the forefront,” NCC Board chairman, summed.
