The Igbo Community Association of Mississipi (ICAM), United States of America has honoured the governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu with a special Merit award as an Outstanding Leader and performer.
The honour was in recognition of Governor Ikpeazu’s strategic achievements including the Enyimba Economic City (EEC) scheme and for attracting high Foreign Direct Investments into Abia State, Igboland and Nigeria.
The award was presented to Governor Ikpeazu during the Igbo Day 2019 Cultural Celebration at Clinton Event Centre in Mississipi, United States of America recently by the Vice President of the association, Dr. Mrs Edith Ezekwe.
Speaking earlier, the president of the association, Professor Okechukwu Anyamele described Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu as a focused, outstanding, creative and visionary leader.
The governor who was represented by Dr. ACB Agbazuere thanked the association for honouring him and used the opportunity to reel out some of the governor’s achievements including promotion of made in Aba products globally, the Enyimba Economic City, attracting Foreign Direct Investments, Education for Employment among others.
The governor appreciated Igbos in America who have started investing at home and urged others to emulate them by ensuring that they invest at home as home remains the retirement destination. The occasion was attended by Igbos living across the States of America and featured speeches and cultural dances.
