The House of Representative member representing Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency 2, Engr Ganiyu Abiodun Johnson, on Monday assured that Nigerians should expect the best legislative productivity and good governance from the ninth National Assembly.
Speaking in a telephone interview, the former Commissioner of Works and Infrastructure in Lagos State averred that “The ninth National Assembly will be a benchmark to treasure by all Nigerians and global followers of Nigerian legislative activities”.
On the election of principal officers at the National Assembly today, the Civil Engineer made it clear that party discipline will be at play during the election process.
He said “Our party, the All Progressive Congress (APC), has anointed Femi Gbajabiamila and Ahmed Wase to lead the House of Representatives and in line with party supremacy and discipline, we have done everything possible to deliver the two.
“In the Senate, the party also anointed Senator Ahmed Lawan as Senate President and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as his Deputy.
“I think we have carried a strategic campaign that will deliver the party’s choice at the National Assembly leadership elections on Tuesday,” Hon Johnson averred.
Business Hilights recalls that at a meeting with a section of the freshers on Saturday in Abuja, Gbajabiamila re-echoed his confidence in them for victory.
The Lagos long serving lawmaker spoke to them saying; “Thank you new members. If you know me very well, you know my heart is with the new members. Let me quickly say, I have never seen such love, such support inside one group. God bless you.’’
However, there are some diehard contestants who have vowed to stand for the position till the election is over as a number of others have made last minute step-down for the Gbaja-Wase ticket at the House.
