The calls for massive indigenous investments in the nation’s aviation industry weekend got a boost with the licensing of 7 Star Global Hangar, to commence aircraft maintenance-repair-overhaul (MRO) operations in Nigeria.
The licence was issued by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the regulatory agency in charge of the industry.
In his remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of 7 Star Global Hangar, Mr. Isaac Balami, said the firm would commence operations this week, “and would ensure that a comprehensive spare parts inventory marketplace was made available to airlines in the country and across the West and Central African region”.
He explained that “With the approval to commence operations, new the quality of services to be delivered will reduce capital flights by airlines in flying abroad for the MRO services.
The former president of the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE), Balami added that his group would be “working with Jordanian, American and European technical partners, and carry out maintenance on Boeing Classics and new generation private jets as well as military and para-military planes and other aircraft types over time”.
“We have determined to ensure aircraft serviceability across Africa. This MRO will create hundreds of jobs in the next few months as well as stimulate opportunities across the sector supply chain,” he said.
