New board of NSC to work with management to achieve growth in maritime industry

The newly inaugurated board of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), has assured of seamless collaboration with the executive management of the Council to strike the targets of the Council at all times.

Chairman, Governing Board of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Hon. Mai Mala Buni, who spoke during the inauguration of the members, said his leadership will improve shipping business in the country with the cooperation of the management of the Council.

While expressing appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari for the opportunity to serve on the board of the NSC, Buni on behalf of other borad members solicited the cooperation of the Council to enable the board achieve its mandate.

According to him, “I will like to commend President Muhammadu Buhari for giving us the privilege to be members of the board of directors of the Council.

“The board under my watch will cooperate with the management of the Council to improve shipping business.”

Continuing, he averred that the transportation sector is capable of driving the Nigerian economy, hence the need for the board to be in tandem with the management of the Council to achieve the overall goal of the federal government.

He said “The country now wants to take advantage of the transport industry as far as infrastructure is concerned and realizing the objectives of the federal government in employment, inclusiveness and opportunities”.

“We believe that the transport industry should drive the economy and I am sure that the board will be in tandem with the overall goal of the federal government.

“We should have had this board meeting long time ago but we welcome it even now, knowing that the progress of this Council will be more if we have the board with us. We are very fortunate with the caliber of people we have on our board and we are going to start work with the board immediately,” Buni added.

Earlier in his address, the Executive Secretary of NSC, Barr Hassan Bello welcomed the new board members and assured good working relationship that will deepen the Council’s service delivery in the nation’s shipping industry.
