Leading global cement solutions providers, LafargeHolcim has partnered other eight global brands in cement and concrete sector to introduce the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA).
This is coming at a time Lafarge Africa Plc, has rewarded customers from the South East and South-South region of the country for their commitment and support to its services and products. The target of the innovation according to a statement from Lafarge is to develop and strengthen the industry’s contribution to sustainable construction.
The association is focusing on driving advancements in sustainable construction, working to enhance the cement and concrete industry’s contribution to a variety of global social and developmental challenges.
Lafarge noted that GCCA will promote the development of durable, resilient and environmentally sensitive buildings and infrastructure at global level.
GCCA’s founding members are CEMEX, CNBM, CRH, Dangote, Eurocement, HeidelbergCement, LafargeHolcim, Taiheiyo and Votorantim.
With concrete now representing the world’s second most consumed product after water, issues at the forefront of the organisation’s agenda include sustainable development and urbanisation, as well as climate change mitigation and adaptation.
In addition, GCCA aims to foster innovation throughout the construction value chain, in collaboration with both industry associations and inspiring architects, engineers and innovators.
In this way, the association aspires to demonstrate how concrete solutions can meet global construction challenges and sustainable development goals, while simultaneously showcasing responsible industrial leadership in the manufacture and use of cement and concrete.
