The Managing Director of Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Enterprises, Mr. Maxwell Oko, has urged Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government to emulate the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), in being deepening activities in social responsibility.

Oko stated this on Wednesday, when he led his management team to NCC Head Office on a courtesy call.

He requested NCC’s partnership in the planned launch of NIGERIA SPORTS BOOK OF RECORDS, 1884 – 2016, a major and historical book of reference on sports in Nigeria.

Other members of the delegation include Yakubu Mohammed Argungu, Clerk of the Senate Committee on Sports and Youth Development who represented the Committee chairman, Senator Obinna Ogba.

The NTA Enterprises boss averred that seeking NCC collaboration in the launch of the historical book with NCC is informed by the Commission’s unparallel demonstration of commitment to corporate social responsibility principles.

He listed some of the core areas of NCC’s involvements in social responsibility including sports even though the focus of NCC’s mandate is telecommunications development.

Business Hilights recalls that only weekend in Lagos; the NCC rounded the 2017 tennis thorny which was won by Team Civil Defence.

According to elated Oko, proceeds from the launch of the Book will be used to support Nigerian sports men and women.

In his response, Responding, Head Media Management at NCC, Mr. Sonny Aragba-Akpore, who received the delegation on behalf of the Executive Vice Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Umar Danbatta, recalled that Commission has a character of identifying with sports development because of the obvious benefits.

He noted that apart from the recently concluded Tennis event in Lagos, all staff of the Commission undertake a keep fit walk every quarter as a matter of organisational policy and at the moment some staff of the Commission are in Bauchi participating in the annual sporting event of the Federal Ministry of Communications.

Aragba-Akpore assured Oko and his delegation of conveyance of his request to the EVC for consideration.
