Leading manufacturers of fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), Unilever Nigeria Plc, has restated its commitment to the health and well-being of community dwellers in the country.
President of Unilever Africa, Bruno Witvoet, made the commitment during a social mission and community outreach tagged “Perfect City Community Outreach’ in Ken-Ade Private School, Makoko community, Lagos State.
Witvoet was joined by other volunteers from Unilever to educate the pupils and teachers of the school about oral hygiene using the Pepsodent Brush + Day Night campaign.
According to him, “That Perfect City was one of the firm’s initiatives to drive the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan”.
“Through this initiative, we leverage community insights to drive inclusive market growth and development while improving livelihood and well-being through our brands.
“In demonstration of this, we have spent quality time at the school educating the children on oral hygiene using our Pepsodent Brush + Day Night campaign. These children are at the stage of habit formation. If they imbibe the right culture of brushing twice daily, it will significantly reduce oral health issues like cavity.”
Witvoet in a statement averred that Unilever will continue to drive oral hygiene in parts of the country until a substantial result is recorded.
The Proprietor of the school, Bawo Ayeseminikan, commended Unilever for its efforts on sustainable development focused on reaching communities such as Makoko, saying “With over 450 students in the school, we are pleased to receive your oral hygiene message. We will continue these teachings and demonstrations as part of our regular health care classes to enable the children cultivate this habit and have healthy teeth and gum.”
