…Business Hilights hails Chevron, PAU partnership
Nigerian workers both men and women have been charged to always strike a comfortable balance between their official activities and family management to limit the chances of marriage breakup and being seen by other members of the family as ‘Strangers’.
In his lecture as the guest speaker during the graduation ceremony of 2017 Set of Professional Programmes participants at the School of Media and Communications (SMC), Pan Atlantic University (PAU), Lekki, Lagos, Engineer Charles A. Osezua (OON), who doubles as the chairman of Board of trustees of the university, said recent studies have shown that several families are currently running into serious crisis due to apparent absence of either the father or mother due to work or official engagements.
He said time has come for parent workers to always remember that their primary constituency remains the family made up of father, mother, children and other family dependents.
According to him, “Giving excess attention to work place activities and relegating home duties and responsibilities can cause a disruption capable of breaking up homes and turning children to momentary orphans”.
“On the other hand, this is also time for companies and government establishments to realize the imports of family and the demands of bringing up children who will tomorrow become fathers and mothers and also work in the same establishments. Therefore, junior members of the family who depend on their working class parents should be factored in while allocating official duties in way and manner, there will be synergy and seamless relationship between work place activities and family management”.
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Juan Elegido admonished graduands to apply all they have learnt in their official activities to add new values.
Prof Elegido, represented by the Director, Professional Education, Mr. Isaac-Ogugua Ekechukwu, said ‘Advanced Writing & Reporting Skills (AWARES 2017) programme has been renewed and recalibrated to include modern media management techniques and intelligence to strengthen the capacity of Nigerian journalists and topflight media executives.
In a graduation message from the sponsor of majority of the participants drawn from across leading Nigeria media houses, Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL), represented by the External Communications Coordinator, Mr. Victor Anyaegbudike, said his company is proud to be part of the success story Nigerian media development.
He said Chevron will continue to deliver life touching social investment programme like sponsorship of AWARES every year.
In a goodwill message, one of the beneficiaries and publisher of Business Hilights, Prince Stan Okenwa thanked Chevron for finding all the participants worthy of the sponsorship and called on the management of PAU to keep up the good work of ‘forming better media practitioners in Nigeria’ and giving value added training for the growth of the nation’s workforce.
The four months programme had started in June this year and ended in September, leading to the graduation in October and formal induction into the prestigious membership of PAU Alumni Association.
