Clear clarification has come from the Lagos State Government, saying the reconstruction of the degraded Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) road that will end at Oshodi interchange in Lagos, is to be delivered at the cost of about N6 billion and not more than that.
This was the position of a top official of the government in an interview with Business Hilights on Monday.
The official who pleaded anonymity said “there was no time government said it will take up to N10bn to do the road. We have our budget ministry and anybody that wishes to find out more can access all budget details from the Office at Alausa.
Before now, there had been speculations that so much were earmarked for the road which is coming with electronic tolling system.
The project being financed by the government of Lagos State, will be completed within 15 months, and it will give a better facelift to the image of the international airport.
It would be recalled that Lagos State had been asking for the release of the road to it for a better facelift from the federal government even during the last administration when the current Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola was the governor.
However, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in his acting capacity during the medical vacation period of President Buhari in London granted the approval.
Ti was not yet clear who will manage the new toll plaza on delivery of the road between the state government and Federal Aviation Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
