Excitements rise on Egina project’s capacity to boost oil production by 200,000bpd

News of readiness of the Egina FPSO in Samsung fabrication facility, South Korea has started eliciting reactions in the oil and gas industry.

According to the Deputy Managing Director of Total Nigeria, a principal partner of the Egina Project, Mr. Ahmadu Musa-Kida, Nigeria’s oil production will be enhanced to the tune of 200,000 barrels per day by the fourth quarter of 2018, when the FPSO must have arrived and started productions.

Giving more insights during the celebration of the Egina manifold sail away in Port Harcourt, he said the scheme will be a game changer for the industry and economy.

Musa-Kida said when completed by the fourth quarter of 2018, the Egina project would add 200,000bpd to Nigeria’s daily crude oil production.

Shedding more light on the project, the Chairman of Aveon Offshore Limited, Mr. Tein George, said the project, which gulped over $30m, was delivered ahead of schedule with zero loss time injury in about 5.5 million man-hours.

A statement by the Group General Manager, Public Affairs, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Mr. Ndu Ughamadu, explained that in crude oil production, the manifold is the gathering point designed to permit the use of pump-down tools, provide for individual well tests, handle injection of chemicals for inhibition of corrosion as well as provide for artificial lift and control.
