The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Ikeja branch has awarded its prominent individual members and companies with different categories of meritorious awards for their outstanding performances and impacts on the organization and the industry over the years.
The award recipients include Xerox H.S Nigeria limited, Pilot Science Company Limited (PSCL), Kenol Nigeria Limited, Engr. (Mrs.) Margaret Oguntala, Engr. Saheed Alagbe, Chairman, Ado-odo LCDA, Ogun State; Engr. Olu Awoyinfa; Engr. Michael Awe and Engr. Felix Ogundare.
Others recognized include Engr. Owolabi Ganiyu; Engr. Olalekan Emeka Ajani; Engr. Setonji David; Engr. Olujimi Hotonu; Engr. Isaac Omopariola, among others.
The event, which was held on Friday at the Ralph Alabi Engineering Centre, Agege, was well attended by present and past leaders, existing and new members of the organization.
In his welcome address, Engr. Akintayo Akintola, Chairman, NSE, Ikeja branch, described the landmark of the award recipients as one that is worthy of emulation.
He also charged the awardees not to rest on their oars, but to forge ahead in their bids to breaking new grounds in their fields of endeavor, which is the engineering sector.
Engr. Festus Abiodun Akinpelu, MD/CEO, PSCL, who expressed delight on behalf of his company, described the development as a rewarding experience, noting that the entire NSE body is a reputable organization with the right initiatives to encourage and make its members proud.
“We look forward to the best, and we know that, with this move, the future holds the best in store for us at NSE,” Akinpelu said.
PSCL was honored with a Corporate Social Responsibility Award for its outstanding landmarks over the years in the area of CSR.
Engr. Oguntala CEO, Bamsat Nigeria Limited, who was honored with an award of Recognition for her years of impactful and transformational contribution to the NSE body and the industry as a whole, attributed her success and rewards to diligence and the ultimate reward of God.
The female engineering icon, who is popularly called ‘Erelu’ of NSE, insinuated that “whatsoever is worth doing is worth doing well.”
Oguntala, who doubles as Managing Partner, Bamsat Engineering Services Limited, expressed gratitude to the NSE leadership for recognizing and honoring her for her contributions in the past years.
While also expressing his appreciation towards the honour of Corporate Social Responsibility conferred on his company, Engr. Olu Ogunduyile, MD/CEO of Kenol described the development as a great honour for his company to be recognized and identified with such an indelible mark in its services over the years.
Engr. Ogunduyile ascribed gratitude to God for the reward, while also admonishing all aspiring engineers in whatever level to keep up with the ethics of the profession, while working towards attaining greater heights in their career.
Also, Engr. Alagbe expressed utmost delight at the gesture of NSE to have remembered and rewarded him with an award of recognition for his impact in the areas he was deemed fit to be awarded by the organization.
Despite his many contributions in the industry and society as chairman of Ado-odo LCDA, Ogun State, Alagbe, who noted that, though he did not expect the award, described it as a lesson to everyone to keep up with good works at whatever level of service.
The amiable LCDA chairman, who also is the founder and former CEO of Krestfield Engineering Concepts Limited, however, admonished youth in the society to keep up with initiatives that will make impacts on the nation if they must attain the topmost heights of leadership in the country.
The NSE, Ikeja branch was established after a handful of engineers working and residing in Ikeja and its environs met to consider the formation of a second branch in Lagos state to cater for their professional and social needs.
Subsequently, an application was lodged with the secretariat of NSE the same year, and on January 31, 1993, the Ikeja branch of the organization was admitted as the 23rd branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, with Engr. Ralph Adeola Alabi, the then Managing Director of Guinness Nigeria Plc as first chairman of the branch.
