The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Tincan Island Port Command has announced the raking in of N183 billion between January and August the year.

In a statement issued by the Command’s PRO, Mr. Uche Ejesieme, on Wednesday, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Basher Yusuf, hinged the success story to the coordinated activities and innovative spirit of the Controller and the entire officers and men.

Explaining more while profiling the activities of the Command, he recalled that the Command has had a sustained high revenue profile since the beginning of the year, a feat attributed to deliberate creative policies and stimulus plans aimed at blocking all possible areas of revenue loss.

Giving more details, the Controller averred that revenue for August alone stood at over N28 billion, which is the highest in the annals of the Command, particularly in the corresponding periods over the years past.

Statistics also showed that while between January and August this year, the command made N183bn, thereby surpassing the same period last year which recorded N156 billion.

The Command said it was due to renewed service delivery vigor driven by the comptroller that the command made more revenue during a recession than last year when the economy was in full swing.

A further analysis shows that the Command is becoming more thorough in its Revenue drive,  to the extent that all high yielding Revenue consignments are closely monitored to avoid circumvention of procedure.

According to Yusuf, “The Customs high Command expects so much from the Command and as such the Command will continue to develop adequate operational template and modalities that will be capable of entrenching integrity in the acumen of our operations”.

While extolling the virtues of the Customs Management, Yusuf vowed to sustain and surpass the Revenue target of the Command in line with the expectations of the Nigeria Customs Service Management.
