
Nyesom Wike, Rivers State Governor
The leadership of emerging strong bloc in the comity of governors’ groups in Nigeria, the South East-South South Governors Forum (SESSGF) has revealed that all the airports and seaports in the 11 members are neglected by the federal government and not reasonably functional.
This was part of the address read by the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike in his remarks during the recent meeting of the forum in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
Some of the affected transport infrastructures located in the 11 states include Onne, Port Harcourt and Warri seaports and also the completed but yet to be concessioned Onitsha River port.
On airport, some of them include Enugu International Airport, Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport (SIMCA), Owerri, Ibom International Airport, Warri Air Field, Asaba Airport, Calabar Airport, Port Harcourt airport, Benin Airport, and others.
Earlier in his address, the chairman of the forum and Akwa Ibom State governor, Chief Udom Emmanuel, reechoed the position of the group in its maiden meeting held in Enugu, saying time has come for the federal government to commit to its pronouncement in the relocation of the oil companies head offices to producing communities.
The Minister of transportation, Chibuike Amaechi is yet to react to the position of the governors.
