Formal expression of interest and documentation of approval processes for the construction of Dangote University in Abuja have begun in earnest, Business Hilights can authoritatively report.

Documents bumped upon by our Abuja Bureau Chief on Monday showed that African leading industrialist, President and founder of Dangote Foundation, Aliko Dangote has made up his mind to situate a N 200 billion world-class university in Abuja, the country’s capital city.

All things being equal, the scheme will be his first investment in Nigerian education industry.

Currently, the mogul remains a force to beat several other industries in terms of investments including agriculture, oil and gas, construction, transport and others.

Our correspondent gathered that a proposal has been submitted to the National Universities Commissions (NUC) as provided by Law and the federal agency has further steeped up the speed by way of sending same to the Minister of Education for final approval.

Former Executive Secretary of the NUC, Prof Julius Okojie, who is currently the chairman of the technical team for the establishment of the university, said the foundation proposes to drive technology and research in stimulating economic growth in the emerging higher institution.

The university according to delivery specifications is coming with all the necessary infrastructure and best faculty members from across the goal.

Besides, the technology driven university will among other things, open windows like scholarships and research grants for many who want to be among the privileged few.

Already, Chief Executive of Dangote Foundation, Zouera Yousouffou and others may have secured massive expanse of land that can compete across the city as most serene for world class academic pursuit.

Investigations by our correspondent showed that what can be said to be holding back resumption of construction activities is approval from the Minister though the  NUC.
