Tincan Island Ports Customs Command ends training for Maritime Journalists
Customs Area Controller of Tincan Island Port Command, Mr. Yusuf Bashar giving his closing remarks to participants at the closing ceremony for training of first Batch of Maritime Editors in Lagos.
He said the training is part of the Commands Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) in giving back to the society and building up the capacities of maritime stakeholders.
According to him, the training centre was a product of creative thinking of the Command and disclosed that the centre had since inception trained several maritime stakeholders on the ABC of Customs operations to deepen education and awareness on Customs activities and roles to economic development.
Earlier in his speech, the chairman of Federated Maritime Media Chapel (FMMC), an affiliate of NUJ, Mr. George Umunnakwe thanked the Command and editors that participated and assured that very soon logistics will be put in place for another batch.
Giving his vote of thanks, the founder and publisher of Business Hilights who participated in the two-day training workshop, Prince Stan Okenwa, thanked the Tincan Island Ports Customs Command for setting up the training centre, saying the feat remains a clinical thought to beat in the comity of Customs Command in Nigeria.
He assured CAC Bashar that participants will make good use of the knowledge garnered throughout the training period.
Some of the resource officers during the training include the PRO of the Command, Mr. Uche Ejesieme, Mrs. Adeola and Mr. Dalyop Gudu. Over 30 media executives took part in the first batch.
