Be wary of messages notifying chances of using WhatsApp without internet, Airtel warns
Airtel Nigeria has advised Nigerians and mainly subscribers on it network to be vigilant in accepting certain messages being circulated which tend to show that a subscriber can make use of Whatapp without any access to internet.
In an sms sent out Monday, the telecoms said “Dear customer, our attention has been drawn to messages notifying customers of the use of Whatsapp without internet. Kindly ignore and do not click on those links as it redirects to cloned applications that may be used to harvest sensitive information from your device. Be cautious,” Airtel concluded.
Since this year, the message had been milling around and many may have fallen victims and have their system hacked.
