NiRA to hold AGM, new elections in April

The .ng registry, the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) has concluded plans to hold its 9th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Friday, 28th April 2017.

At the meeting, the board will receive the Annual Report and Audited Financial Statements for the year ended December 31, 2016 together with the report of the Auditor.

A statement signed by Mrs Edith Udeagu, chief operating officer, listed the agenda for the AGM including reception and approval of the Business Plan and Budget for the financial year ending December 31, 2017, elect some Members of the Executive Board of Directors, elect some Trustees of the Association and consider such other business as any Member properly brings before the meeting.

The AGM according to the Mrs. Udeagu, two members of the Executive Board of Directors are presented for re- election for a second term while eight trustees are to be elected for the Association.

NiRA also allows members’ attendance and participation through the Internet.

New members who joined NiRA 21 days before the AGM are not entitled to vote at the meeting.

Besides, financial member may nominate another financial member for election to any of the vacant elected positions by completing the nomination form on NiRA website 21 days before the AGM Members cannot propose their own nomination.

The nomination form can be accessed via the link www.nira.org.ng/agm and nominations will close by 5.00pm on the 30th of March, 2017 and shall not be permitted from the floor of the AGM.

Just like other public limited companies, a member that is eligible to attend and vote at the AGM is entitled to appoint a Proxy to attend in his/her behalf.
