
Governor of Delta State Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has disclosed that Delta State loses over 250,000 barrels of crude to militancy and vandalism and the development is negatively impacting on the revenues accruing to the state from the Federation Account.
By the calculations of the governor, about 80% of pipeline bombings by militants were carried out in Delta state and that has adversely affected the crude production from Delta State resulting in the erosion of federal allocation because allocations are based on the volume of crude lifted by the government monthly
According to him, “You could imagine a situation where we a state that received over N26 billion now getting about N6 billion. Meanwhile the wage bill alone is about N7.4 billion and in some States their entire wage bill is N1.7 billion; which is what pay to post-primary Board”,
