The Executive Secretary, Nigerian Shippers Council, (NSC), Hassan Bello has given an assurance that the Jos Dry Port (Inland Container freight station) under construction at Heipang will be ready for use any time from June this year.
Addressing reporters during an inspection tour of the project by the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and the Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Simon Lalong, he said “The facility, concessioned to Duncan Group of Companies, has capacity to handle 20,000 twenty-foot equivalent units, (TEUs), of containers at the first instance but can be upgraded to higher capacity later”.
He assured that other dry ports coming up in other parts of the country will also be ready within the period as many of them had been accorded serious attention because of the importance the federal government attached to the scheme to ease shipping and associated businesses in the economy.
