More details have emerged on why Acting President Yemi Osinbajo did not replace, rather approved reappointment of Barr Hassan Bello as the Executive Secretary/CEO of Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) for second four-year tenure.

Stakeholders in the maritime sector who spoke to Business Hilights traced the gesture to Bello’s unwavering performance at the federal agency especially in the areas of ongoing drive for dry port developments in parts of the country and the new idea of trailer parks also ongoing within the period.

They recalled that under Bello, Shippers’ Council had progressed faster towards a tailored delivery of services to the growth of the sector.

Our correspondent gathered that the letter conveying the renewal dated June 9th, 2017 to the Council and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Transportation, Aljahi Sabiu Zakari averred that Osinbajo approved the reappointment effective from 20th June, 2017 to 19th June 2021.

Bello was first appointed Executive Secretary/CEO of NSC following the expiration of the tenure of Captain Adamu Biu in 2013.
