Who’s Presidency?: Expert warns presidency to be careful with embattled SGF, Lawal
Reading security intelligence meaning to the outburst of the troubled Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, the day he got feelers of his suspension, a Lagos security tactician has called for caution.
In an interview, the private security operative who pleaded anonymity said “When I took time to read meaning into that very short question put to newsmen by Lawal, I was nervous because it means a lot when you put the unsubstantiated rumours on the health status of our leader”.
“If a security expert like me starts to give the analogy of that two-worded question which some may rightly adjudge to be rhetoric, it will be dangerous for us all as a fragile nation now.
“However, if I may advise the same Presidency that chose to investigate the matter by itself, I will advise our intelligent Vice President who is leading the Committee to see how he will find a soft landing for Mr. Lawal because ‘he, Lawal knows too much on the life and dealings of the presidency’.
Continuing, the security expert said the Committee will do all it can to do a report that will not provoke Lawal to ask more rhetoric questions on the presidency or blow up official secrets at the Villa out of a feelings that he was made escape goat.
Business Hilights gathered that the seating of the Committee started Monday and will submit report within 14 days.
However, indications are emerging that horse trading for Lawal’s possible replacement may have resumed as two ministers, two senators, and four others are top on the list of those being considered.
Besides, there were indications that the presidency may have foreclosed the return of Lawal and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Amb. Ayo Oke, to their offices.
Analaysts say current Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu may have been penciled down as part of fresh moves to placate the South East who had been groaning negligence in the corridor of powers for some time now.
Only last week, leading human rights lawyer and former President of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Chief Olisa Agbakoba approached a federal High Court in Enugu with a class action against the Federal government against what he described as official negligence of the region in the scheme of developments.
Besides, IPOB and MASSOB had been scheming for secession due to what they see as lack of government concerns in the entire South East.
