Ferocious inferno from explosions at two distant gas stations, named Second Coming in the sleepy Magodo area of Lagos and another station at Badagry axis claimed the lives of seven persons leaving yet to be ascertained numbers injured on Monday morning. The first gas plant is located on CMD Road, opposite Magodo Brooks Estate.

The second explosion at a gas retail shop at Iluda Road, Ajara Vetho in Badagry, had four persons confirmed dead with pieces of dismembered bodies littering the scene just as three bodies were picked up after containing the Magodo fire on Monday.

Business Hilights gathered that a spark from a car at the station, ignited the fire as it spread to surrounding buildings before the arrival of operatives of Lagos State Fire Service (LSFS).

However, officials of the LSFS, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Federal Road Safety Corps and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) were able to put off the inferno before noon after battling for about four hours at the early hour explosion.

Extent of damage is yet to be acertained as the company’s official who spoke with Business Hilights said “I cannot give you details of damages as we are yet to take stocks of what was burnt”.
