Just as the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Interior, Adams Jagaba, has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday plenary, vociferous politician and Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial district, Dino Melaye also decided to seat on the row for PDP members at the upper chambers. This sweeping actions are coming 24 hours after the marking of three years of the present ruling party, the APC.

Jagaba, who is from Kaduna State, has just announced his defection to the Peoples Democratic Party on the floor of the House in Abuja. Members of the PDP caucus in the House are in jubilation mood throughout Wednesday plenary.

Though Senator Melaye refused to give a political meaning to his strange seating with the PDP members, analysts say the move is a pointer of possible line of action for the New PDP members whom their grievances are yet to be addressed by the ruling APC.

It was not clear whether the planned meeting between the nPDP and President Muhammadu Buhari was successful on Wednesday.

The spokesman for the group, Alhaji Kawu Baraje had earlier in the week and after their meeting with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, noted that even though they had met with the party Exco and Vice President, their meeting with Buhari will further decide on their next line of action.

Besides, followers of the development had argued that time seems to be too short for any meaningful negotiation to workout.

Analysts’ say the core APC leadership are currently weighing the possible impacts of losing the nPDP ahead of 2019 election. Whereas some say nPDP absence won’t affect the party’s victory, other say the teaming of nPDP with PDP and other emerging parties may spell doom for the APC.
