Contrary to civil service recruitment process, a report has revealed that almost all federal ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) have been carrying out illegal recruitments in the last couple of years.
But latest development from a recent review carried out by the Ministry of Finance on the infractions and employment breaches showed that out of 185 MDAs, 183 had recruited 13,780 staff in recent years and government is poised to sack all.
The remaining two, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army were shown to have sought the necessary approvals and the attendant advertisement for their recruitment.
The Presidency had forthwith, ordered the Office of Secretary to Government of the Federation to carry out an investigation, while placing a ban on recruitment without approval.
Business Hilights further gathered that out of 13,780, about 6,917 were recruited without any formal approval; 2,314 were employed by seven universities with governing council approval; only while 4,549 had correctly obtained approval from the Office of the Head of Service and Federal Character Commission.
The discovery was followed up by a report prepared by the panel to President Muhammadu Buhari before he travelled to the United Kingdom for medical treatment asking that the MDAs be ordered to follow due process.
Additional investigations by our correspondent showed that the entire recruitments were made without reference to budgetary provisions, hence leading to the risk of unpaid salaries and the need for virement which increases payroll cost.
However, action on the report passed to the Office of the Secretary to the Federal Government (SFG) was said to be handing due to non appointment of a substantive SFG since the tactical ouster of Mr. David Babachir Lawal.
